Did you know that there are three Hello Kitty Worlds located in Turkey? Two are in Istanbul (Suadiye and Atasehir) and the other one is in Ankara. This post will be about the Hello Kitty World in Suadiye, Turkey. The Hello Kitty World Suadiye is in a posh street where stores like Louis Vuitton, Vakko, and many other upscale brands are located. At first glance, you will see a red tent and pink balloons with Hello Kitty prints all over. The Hello Kitty World is divided into two sections – Cafe and Shop.
When I visited this place for the first time, I was with my family. We got the address from their website, and at that time it was not updated with its new location. So when we got there, the old shop was closed and I was so devastated. Then we left and got on the bus. While I was looking outside (a bit teary-eyed), less than five minutes into the drive, I saw the new location (I never knew they moved at all). Apparently, earlier this year 2014, they moved to a different building but on the same street. I immediately pushed the bus stop button, and we rushed outside to visit this place. My family calls me ‘Hello Kitty’ crazy.
The Cafe
The Cafe at the Hello Kitty World has both seating inside and outside. There are also blankets available if you prefer to sit outside. Inside the cafe, they have different Hello Kitty wall decorations – polka dot, pink kitty face, and Hello Kitty art works. There’s a counter where you can select different sweets – cookies, cakes and other pastries. And they also serve hot meals. When we visited I tried the ‘Hello Kitty snack’ which consists of chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and fries. My cousin got the ‘Hello Kitty’ burger, she said it was tasty and she was very full after eating it. They also served Turkish tea, coffee, salads and other dishes. Prices vary but the snack I got was about $10 USD.
The Shop
The Hello Kitty World shop sells Sanrio items – notebooks, bags, accessories, etc. It is quite similar to a Sanrio store elsewhere but its a bit bigger than others. When I visited, I asked if they spoke English, but sadly they didn’t. I still managed to buy some cute things from the shop – pencil and notebooks. Also, they didn’t have a specialty item that’s Sanrio Turkey (or Istanbul) specific.
My Review:
I really enjoyed going to this place even though I couldn’t speak Turkish (I think there was one staff who spoke English). The food was good, the prices were reasonable and the location is really posh. I would highly recommend Hello Kitty fans to visit this place in Turkey.
